Fowl but Happy
Free Range chickens drink about a pint of water a day. And there are 46 in this field - so I carry a lot of water in for them.
If you are a meat eater, and I am, then it is wise to know where your meat comes from. By befriending a farmer and eating locally grown produce you not only know exactly where your food is coming from but you are also strengthening your local food chain and that is always a good thing.
I tried to train these chickens not to show you their dirty bums - personal hygiene is not high on their list - but apparently they were not listening in class that day. I love how they just plonk their big bodies down!
Do you see that black chicken, she is a cheeky layer - everyone is free range here and she and her friends pop in here for a feed every now and then.
Have a lovely day and don’t feel bad for these chickens - their lives may be short but they have a lovely time under the apple trees and are well fed and very well treated. I promise!
Take care.
Cecilia

Yes we got to see plenty of bums but also some thirsty chickens. I'd love to see how do they drink, exactly. I heard dogs or maybe cats' tongues' lap water not like we do but the opposite by curling their tongues under.
I know. I'm weird. I loved seeing you feed a whole egg, shell and all, to Sheila. Could not believe they swallowed it whole!
A good short life is much better than a long hard one.
