Good Morning Birds . TKG Take Ten . Travel
Ten minutes of ambient bird sound. There are noticeably less birds singing here in New Zealand, than there are back out at the farm.
Out on the farm in Illinois the morning chorus is almost deafening.
But here we can hear individual morning birds. Mainly blackbirds and sparrows and only a hint of the Tūī this morning.
Maybe we will find more Tūī when we get to the garden on the hill in Napier. They have Tūī feeders in their trees there. I am not sure about feeding wild birds at all - I think we have to be careful of delaying migrating birds, but here in New Zealand at Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne they feed the birds and they are bird professionals so I guess it is ok.
Tūī belong to the honeyeater family. Which does not mean that they are particularly interested in honey but they are fed like we feed hummingbirds in the states. With feeders hanging in trees. Basically filled with sugar water. The feeders are huge - I will take some photos for you when I get to Napier. And having said that hummingbirds are not a part of the honey eater family, though they are also feed on nectar.
Now that we have thoroughly confused ourselves, shut your eyes or set up your ten minute work up and have a listen to the birds. Take Ten minutes.
Take care. Talk soon.
