Landing Through the Sunset. TKG Take Ten. Travel.
A controlled fall from the evening sky. Auckland. New Zealand.
Firstly I am so sorry, my Tenners, I missed a few days.
We had an upset on the farm and the farm is in Illinois and I am in New Zealand. So. Well. I needed a couple of days to get myself back together after that. It was a peacock. And not just any peacock. Not just a bird. You can read more about it here, but there’s nothing worse than losing an animal or a bird, a pet, and not being there to say goodbye and organise the burial.
I am in New Zealand now. This video is shot out the window of the plane as we were landing into Auckland, New Zealand. Home for me. After I had got through the shambles in the customs hall in Auckland. (New Zealand has got to sort that out). I ran to catch a plane to Wellington, New Zealand. And I do mean RAN, but when I got to the domestic terminal, puffed and pink, the ground staff were a delight and efficient and got me through to the gate with minutes to spare.
Coming into Auckland, New Zealand always gives me this great, big, whole feeling of being home. Though Auckland is not my favorite city in New Zealand, it is my first port of entry. And, honestly. I’m not even sure what home is. Home is people right. Or animals, maybe. Houses? Do you sometimes feel you have more than one home?
I am in Wellington now, up on a hill on the peninsular of Miramar. Tomorrow we will be listening to the birds in the trees up here.
This vid is a little longer than usual so we could get all the way to the ground!
Have a great evening/morning. See you tomorrow.

I read about Mr. Flowers but am not able to email back on either of my "accounts". Word Press just will not recognize me. Anyway, you cannot imagine how sorry I am about him. He was a stunning, unique essence of the farm and his loss is major. I know it's particularly rough for you not being there. Awful. I saved the last video of the farm before you left to console myself--before Mr. Flowers' death. I'm so grateful I can see him in all his splendor.
What a beautiful landing!
