I felt so hopeful protesting at yesterday's No Kings Protest nationwide! Even our small town of 12,000 had people lining the streets for 4 blocks! Not to mention 7 million turning out nationwide in 2,700 cities across the country! We can make a difference! But must also be in the moment touching nature and being grateful for our freedoms that others in many other countries do not have. Seeing your monster gardens is certainly uplifting! :)

I love that you were out there. I would be. But being out of the USA feels safer at the moment. I am lucky I had an opportunity to pop out for a while. Many are not so lucky.

We were taught to make our beds every morning as well. It's just a good habit. I can't sleep in a bed that has not been made. I will actually make it just before getting into it if that's the case (like when staying somewhere else or coming home from a trip and hubby hasn't made the bed) 😵‍💫 Loved the photo of baby in the pool.

The photo of baby swimming class brings back memories. I hope we get to see the blooms on those poppies!

Was 'not sure' about 'swimming lessons' as far as Louie was concerned, but > time has passed and actually he is older than I stupidly realized . . . and this is a delightful way for a bub to get to experience a new environment - especially since he enjoys the 'feel' of the water > great! As far as anything 'green' in the Melbourne garden is concerned, you sure know how to grow giants :) Just - why is puss looking 'cranky' :) ?

I’ll be on swimming lesson duty next week. The 18 month old does not like the pool so it’s going to be fun!

Some US military bigwig, I forget who, wrote a book called Make your Bed. It's apparently meant to encourage people to take charge of their own lives. It does make sense, if I feel I've horribly wasted a day, doing something as simple as organizing a couple of drawers make me feel at least I've accomplished something! I, too, air out my bed for a while but I always make it, mostly because I hate crawling in to wrinkly sheets.

Yes - that General also has a TedTalk which is good. He also said that if your day goes to shit at least you have a well made bed to fall into at the end of said shit say! 😆

I worked as a maid at a ski resort one winter so I can make mean hospital corners. But in recent years, I've trained my husband to make the bed and he dutifully does it every morning. Duvets help enormously!

Mitred corners - I remember those from my nurse aiding days!! We should have a race!’ Us young nurses used to love racing each other!

My mother taught me to air the bed when I got out of it, rather than to make it immediately. The protocol was to leave the sheets and blankets folded back to air while I dressed, etc. This airs the bottom sheet that I have slept on. I still do this, most days making my bed after I have had breakfast and coffee. And I was like your grandbaby -- took to the water at first exposure, from splashing in the bath to mud-crawling in shallow water by the shores of a lake. I still love to swim: I have proper respect for water and for my own endurance, but I am not afraid of water.

Your mother taught you the right way. Love that you still do that. I think my mother was trying to wrangle a mob so taught us quick ways so we could get outside faster and still obey the rules.

I learnt to make a bed properly, but did get a duvet for Christmas in 1969, which made it a lot easier from then on.

KitKat looks a lot like Pershie, the feral cat here. She arrived as a kitten, 16 years ago, gets fed and watered, but prefers to be outside. She stands guard on the picnic table outside. I can see her now, waiting for the badgers.

I was walking the dog round the fields today, when a deer jumped over a wall, just in front of me. It walked round in a circle, took one look at me and leapt back over the wall!
