I am so making this muesli. I usually eat cooked oats, but this will be nice for warmer weather (and muesli cookies). I shall make it with dried sour cherries (fruit-juice-sweetened -- my favorite), nuts and seeds, maybe coconut flakes or candied ginger or orange peel.

Sharyn! candied orange peel would be amazing. I put coconut in last weeks muesli but I put it in too early - it browned up too fast! Dried sour cherries sound like a perfect addition too!

Best wishes for a safe and wonderful birth! I remember so well trying to walk my daughter out of the womb in those last weeks.

Yes! Staying strong too. We have a big dog who needs piles of walking so that gets her out.

Thanks for the granola recipe. I must try it. Enjoy the wait. Have you been reading bedtime stories to the baby who is also patiently waiting to arrive?

A lovely idea! Though I have a grumpy mama attached to baby at this point. Soon I will be able to read to him - if all goes well.

Better than granola bars that’s for sure! Good morning Beth!

This sounds so delicious, but it would send my blood sugar into orbit with all that dried fruit and honey. My breakfasts tend to run along the lines of buttered sourdough and a just-laid poached egg, or some smashed avocado. Also delicious, but different! I'm eyeing up various corners of the back yard to install another half-IBC raised bed for tender greens, preferably with a bit less sun. Even in winter, the current one's location makes them bolt before I get a chance to pick anything.

I hate it when my greens bolt. The lettuce here is starting to run now but I have more coming. And it is much cooler and wetter. Lovely garden weather.

Love your atmospheric photos - love your muesli recipe even more > practical and simple and clear and easy and, who on earth would want to buy if this is in your cupboard. About to repost methinks - don't have your email to show and tell, but . . .

I just made another bulk of muesli/granola and you are so right. It taste so much better than shop bought muesli that I had this morning. I’m going to mix what is left of that in with your muesli just because we don’t want to waste anything do we?

That sounds like a really good idea -using the bought stuff to sweeten your home made muesli. It is all the added sugars I can't bear. Just too sweet for me. I saw your lovely post with fire the other day - I was unable to comment but it was very emotive.

Love this! Can't wait to try the muesli recipe. Raining here, much needed. Daffodils are up, crabapple trees are blossoming, frogs are calling, spring is starting here. Best wishes for the next 5 weeks there as you get ready to welcome new life in that season

I am glad you are getting some rain too - especially now - in the spring! Crab apple trees are such a delight - do you make crab apple jelly?

We have not made crab apple jelly. We also have a pear tree, and have some jelly still from that. Thanks so much!

Pear jelly - now that sounds great! My Mum used to make crab apple jelly with equal amounts of crab apples and sugar (dad reckoned another month and it would be GROG - needless to say she never made that again but it did have the prettiest colour!

Take your time gathering the ingredients - if you have access to a bulk bin store it gets a bit cheaper but once you are underway you will never go back to store bought cereals. What do you usually have for breakfast?
