Surfing Up River - TKG Take Ten - Travel

Thursday. Surfing up in the mountains because why not.

The dam opens the floodgates every now and then releasing enough water to create sizeable waves down river. Just for a few hours and not everyday.

What I love about these surfers, and I have been to watch this a few times over the years, what I love is how polite and cool they are. How supportive. The moment they get on the water they are a team. There is a lot of water rushing past. They are washed downstream every time. But they wade back and line up and watch each other calling out chatting as they wait for their ride. These people all ski and board maybe even go kiting.

Even getting those wet suits on and off is a challenge. But they do great things for the figure.

The kid surfing on the plywood was awesome.

We are going up to the fields tomorrow - the others will be skiing. (I have never learned to ski - I am a beach kid). I will be taking another TKG Take Ten up there as well. There is a bit of snow forecast so we will see what comes of it. You just never know right?
