The Blue Castle by LM Montgomery, read by Cecilia Gunther
This enchanting novel celebrates independence, the beauty of untamed nature, and the joy of living authentically, daring listeners to find their own wildness.
What would you do if you had only a year left to live?
I would be grateful if you could ❤️ Like this page as you go so it will be easier for others to find the BedTime Story Series. We all need some down time.
In The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery, Valancy breaks free from suffocating family expectations, embracing her wild, eclectic self. A beautiful book that describes nature and community and family. This is not a period piece but a piece written in a specific period so language and thoughts and environment are so different to our own modern period yet much of it is strangely pertinent to today.
Let me know your thoughts. I would love to hear where you draw parallels and where you feel empathy for Valancy and her story.
Valancy could be any one of us. The more I read of this story the more I see us in L.M. Montgomery’s words. Even though it was published in the 1920’s it is pertinent to today.
Every couple of days I record a new reading. I try to keep them at around thirty minutes (thirty minutes being a nice period of relaxation for me and I read these as relaxation - reading to you brings me such peace).
I read in one take. If I read the wrong the word I will correct myself in character. If I sneeze or sniff I will be sniffing in character - these readings are BedTime Stories read as though I were in the chair by the poets window reading to you. Just you.
