TKG Take Ten : Monday : Walking on Ice is a Lot scarier than walking on eggshells
I film multiple ten minute videos throughout the day and then select the one that tells a story. This one tells us how difficult it is to walk on ice. Difficult for a pig and a person.
Hear the crunching of the ice? The surface of the snow has been covered in ice. We are just coming out of freezing rain. It lasted most of the morning. So. The branches of the trees are covered in a thin layer of ice, the snow is covered in a think layer of ice and the ice has more ice. Then it melted then it froze again.
I wanted you to be able to hear the crackling of the ice. But what happened was that the camera lost the plot completely (I forgot to set the tracking focus) and so the camera kept focusing and refocusing on all the wrong things. (I guess this is why a person needs a photographer - but don’t get excited - we don’t have one).
And what the camera totally missed was Quacker flying by. Though we heard her. Like most of the big birds she hates the ice and snow and flew, complaining the whole way, from the barn to the chook house.
But if you do listen carefully, after all the excitement has died down, you can hear the rustle and crackle of the ice laden trees being bothered by the wind.
It was 32F when this was being shot. Not cold really in the scheme of things! Just on the edge of melting then freezing again. It is dangerous when the weather has not made up its mind yet.
Here are some photos from this morning.
I hope your day went well.
I am feeling very OVER the cold and especially over the ice. In another video I made today I literally lost the battle with balance and hit the ground. I chose not to show you that uncomfortable moment! 😂.
Not that I don’t want to give you a good laugh but Boo was horrified at my lack of grace.
Take Care and Talk Soon
See you tomorrow!

Yes I heard crackling ice and trees and plenty of Quacker complaining but also feel so sorry for little lulu. Doesn’t she want to be inside? Sorry also to learn you fell. Hope no bones got injured. Boo is such a good soldier!
