TKG Take Ten . This is not a bird channel
Thursday. But sometimes it is. A bird channel. Sounds of the Farm are often birds. Sometimes the evenings are all about the calls of the wild birds and their chorus and soundtrack.
I heard the first clear call of an American Robin today but I have not seen one at all. He might be a front runner popping over to see if the ground is soft enough for worm gathering.
Mostly we are listening to the starlings and sparrows at bed time. Along with the muted colours of cloudy sunset.
I have an app that helps me identify the birds here. In Illinois. I have used it for a while to learn all the calls. And as you know I am partially deaf so the app shows me the presence of birds I have not heard at all.
The App (by Cornell Lab) is particularly useful for showing birds I hear but I cannot see. Above is what the app found in this Take Ten - though I did not hear the woodpecker and the app missed the dove. Together we heard it all. People plus technology are a formidable pairing.
The app will not identify a rooster though which makes me laugh! I wonder whether it will identify Mr Flowers when he calls out in the spring.
See you in the morning at the kitchens garden
