TKG Take Ten : Wednesday : BedMaking is a Serious Business says Wai.
If you want to change the world - make your bed. In other words - just get on with it. Do attend to the small stuff.
WaiWai has every intention of changing the world - bed by bed.
Wai is a burns survivor. A rescue in every meaning of the word. Bad players set him on fire. Years ago now. His skin has never fully recovered. Though he has healed amazingly well out here on the farm. But he feels the cold. Hence the thorough bed making.
Every evening especially in the cold weather WaiWai spends a good part of the time preparing his bed for sleep. Tonight is going down to 20F (-7C) - not too bad compared to the previous few nights - but still very cold for this pig. Do you see how I place the blanket on top, he is very careful to get through the straw and under the blanket.
Right into the middle of his mountain.
Later Tima will come and burrow in there with him and even later (during night chores) I will come by and throw a couple more blankets on top of them both. Pigs do well out here!
Have a lovely evening. Leave me a message - comments are my thing!
Love Celi
PS This is a reader supported publication so thank you so much for reading. 🦋 Hugs to my new Paid Subscribers; your support is putting the sustainable in my Sustainable Sunday,🐷: feeding the rescue pigs (WaiWai too) and paying me a little for my writing time means I can keep making these vids and writing the letters for a LONG TIME!
Just Two more paid subscribers and Letters to my Mother will have reached 30 paid subscribers. A total of $150.00 a month. Isn’t that just marvellous. And I mean that. I am being paid to make farm videos and write about old fashioned sustainable stuff! 😂 Literally hundreds of you watch the videos each evening and read the letters on Sunday. And. I love you for it!
If you cannot upgrade and I do understand - SHARE - someone out there in your community might need the comfort of 10 minutes on the farm.
Here is the Sustainable Sunday letter from Sunday.
Three questions: 1. Does the straw irritate his sensitive skin? 2. Is Wai able to sleep through the night without having to "use the facilities" as, ahem, some of us must? And if he is not, does he discombobulate Tima, or is she, too, in my "situation?"
3. Don't want to be gross, but what is the pinkish ball between his legs: his testicles or his stomach.
Make your bed and lie in it is one of my favourite sayings .Wai is such a dear, l love the way Tima nestles down with Wai in the Winter but they have no truck with each other the rest of the year.
Pretty smart.
