A good call... the WordPress options with more storage/auto backup are exxy. There's no simple way to minimise photo size and it's time consuming to do it manually and upload smaller file sizes. There are some flaws in their business model. I finger Substack easy, full of interesting people and things, I get a bit overwhelmed, but as I cannot afford to subscribe to everything is its own check & balance I hope everyone from TKG pops over here.
I will pop back and forth to remind our people over there for a while and so far LOTS of people are subscribing. So all good so far. This is an excellent way to down size to really engaged readers too. I like that. Good morning! Still no rain here. How about you?
We're away on a little campervan trip meeting up with friends in country NSW. The weather away and at home has been gloriously autumnal for a couple of weeks. But here at Bingara there's some passing rain & thunderstorm this morning, and rain forecast at home by the time we arrive back on Wednesday. It will be good for the garden which in time-poor desperation I top-dressed with compost and guerilla-garden style scattered with edibles & zinnia seeds ahead of some forecast rain, and they had popped up before we left.
It's still too hot here for lettuce, definitely for brassicas, so we're currently eating braised young sweet potato leaves, as are the chooks. I have passionfruit fruiting and two stems of bananas growing, but no vegies yet, still too hot (and wet). I'll clear the bed soon, top dress with more chook compost, add sugarcane mulch and get some beans in the minute I think they'll survive.
That was a pretty good run on WordPress. I've been following both.
Yes Spring is definitely getting going in central Indiana. The violets and spring beauties are blooming. The neighbor has some bushes that started blooming just over three weeks ago, filled with snowy white flowers until yesterday when the leaves all popped. I don't know what they are and I can't see them up close, but they sure were pretty from my bathroom window. Lots of robins, eastern phoebes, juncos, cardinals and more singing like mad and zipping around looking for nesting materials. Every evening for the last week there has been a great blue heron fly past from west to east (the Tippecanoe river is a couple blocks east of us). It scared Brat (the cat) the first time he saw it, they're big birds.
This is the most beautiful description of spring. The plants from your bathroom window especially and that Blue Heron, such beautiful birds. We used to have many of them down on the farm then they left one winter as usual and never came back - not for years now. I am not sure what changed for them to leave our trees to nest elsewhere.
Ooo so nice to be able to comment again! I hope your daughter is well and her pregnancy is not too tiresome. Looks like you have a magic wand regarding your new garden. Well done. I know a lot of hard work. 👏👏
I do hope all goes well with your new venture. We are all evolving. Dear naughty Tima and lovely pond view. So pleased that we get little snippets from the farmy. Best wishes, Andy x
I'm so glad you've moved everything over here. I fought with Wordpress every time I wanted to make a comment and it's a piece of cake here. Plus you'll find a lot more followers! Those statistics are impressive, FYI.
It will just take a little bit for people to get used to commenting here. And I do think you have to register to comment. But then, that was true on Wordpress as well. So it shouldn't be a problem.
She is doing really well and yes! From here - we will be referring back to the archives frequently. It is still a very valuable document. Documentary actually.
such news! Lots of things happening here. Good for you!

Nice! Hope there has been a few more drops to keep the zinnias going!
Congratulations for your publication news! I can see that you and Tima have worked hard for this <3

We are so temperate compared to your environment - Australia is a huge country.

It is lovely to see pictures from the farm - I do miss them.
glad all is well in both places and good to see you here -
It will be easier for me for sure only having one platform to work on. And this is where it is so easy to comment - lets hope everyone finds us, Beth!

Yes, I hope I don't lose people along the way though. The Lounge of Comments at the blog was very busy but it is quiet here!

It is great to see Tima the Naughty again - I am dependent on the farm people for pictures which come in occassionally!
