Well... wow... that was worth waiting for. What a setting. A marvellous lead in. And then the significance of all those magically details becomes apparent. This is why I love memoirs. Remembered truth is so much more entertaining than fiction.
I was travelling when you posted this so I just read/listened to it. Wow! A great story. You do need to include it. The characters are appealing and the descriptions perfect. I was there with you (even after you tucked me into bed). xo
