Oh, Celi - how did I miss this wonderful piece/memory? I love it, thank you. I also love how you refer to yourself as the boatbuilder's daughter. With your agreement, I choose to follow you. My dad was a cabinetmaker, and so I am going to change my Substack name to the cabinetmaker's daughter

Well... wow... that was worth waiting for. What a setting. A marvellous lead in. And then the significance of all those magically details becomes apparent. This is why I love memoirs. Remembered truth is so much more entertaining than fiction.

Yes!! Remembered : disassembling and reassembling of truth. The characters are true . The characters and the locations. I love the houses the most i think.
