Nature is not influenced by a three day labor, an emergency surgery and a tiny new life coming home, the farm carries on in it’s summer rhythm, the garden continues with winter produce, life rolls on.
So happy that the three of you are safely home! Soon a normal, natural rhythm should ensue allowing peaceful recuperation for all of you. And yes, the grass continues to grow! Not sure about the Farmy, but we have had massive amounts of rain down here, filling the lakes and rivers and giving giant growth to our gardens. We've frozen 12 gallons of strawberries already and it looks like we'll have bumper crops of raspberries and blackberries too! Berry preserves this year for sure! It's wonderful to have all back home safe and sound and hear from you again. xo
happy all are well and gaining strength and life goes on , as it should. your green grass is growing all around.
And the Green Grass Grew All Around", also known as "The Green Grass Grew All Around" or "And the Green Grass Grows All Around", is a traditional Appalachian folk song that was first noted in 1877 in Miss M. H. Mason's book Nursery Rhymes and Country Songs, but likely to be much older. Some sources give the author as William Jerome and the melody by Harry Von Tilzer in 1912. a popular classic children's song today, an example of a cumulative song.similar to the Irish folk song The Rattlin' Bog, and versions exist in many other cultures and under many titles. <3 to the sweet baby, he's a fighter, that's for sure
Congratulations on the arrival of baby boy! Whew sounds like it was a bit stressful. I’ve been on that table getting baby retrieved. The recovery wasn’t fun, good that she has you to take care of her. I hope all is well and daughter is recovering and feeling well.
It was a shocking experience- and yes the recovery is coming along in tiny increments. I am so glad that she and o hatched the plan for me to live here for a while. Good morning Lori! I hope your day is going well.
Congratulations to the new mother and baby. Thank goodness for modern medicine! Your daughter is fortunate to have you by her side for support and help.
both were done for reasons which made them imperative. Babies come into the world in many ways and their well being and that of the mother are crucial to the decision of how they arrive.
You were wise to move her to a different hospital where thing were taken seriously. You all had a happy outcome because of that decision. I had 2 C sections and although the recovery was challenging,
the change of teams - though difficult - was critical to this wee boys life. Shocking really: They simply did not believe these were real labor pains she was having. Something was not right. And I knew it. And we never saw the same person twice in the big hospital so it was very hard for them to understand. The team in the small rural hospital was awesome.
Glad to hear your grandson is doing okay despite having the umbilical cord wrapped around his neck. Recovering from a hot C-section is hard. I know. Glad you are there to help your daughter and grandson. Is this your first grandchild?
Hi Nancy - this is my 9th grandchild - and because I can travel quickly I am a bit of a troubleshooter in the family so she asked me to come and stay awhile. We are doing so well now. Better every day.
That would have been scary, but I'm so glad you were there. Such a wise decision. Yes, life goes on and baby is a strong little boy. Well done all of you. Sending hugs. ❤️❤️❤️
All around the miracle that took place in that operating room in the small local hospital, people and animals and plants and the environment kept on doing their thing so that there would be a world to welcome him, plants to nourish him and people and animals to be his companions. That is the *other* miracle. I know that "how dare the world be unchanged" feeling after a loss, but in the end, it's reassuring, I find. You are working to make a space which is green and wholesome and bursting with life. That will be his earliest memory, and something to be proud of. Congratulations to you both for your hard work, and welcome, small person, to the little Eden your granny is making.
Reading this, I was so glad of your hands pressed together - I thought of your strength joining your daughter’s, welcoming her son. Sometimes when big things happen I feel like I’m from outer space when I have to walk through a supermarket full of people. I wonder if there is some clarity to our vision in those moments that we lose once we join the current again. Sending joyful hugs.
This is an interesting observation - "Sometimes when big things happen I feel like I’m from outer space when I have to walk through a supermarket full of people." That is exactly how it feels! I will pass on your hugs!

I think they have had lots of rain too - though John got one cut of hay in - not sure if there have been more - he is not the best communicator!

You were a powerful and necessary support and advocate for your daughter and the baby. It could have been a tragic outcome without your insistence.
I love the comment: the grass keeps growing. Best wishes to the two moms and the babe.
Thank you Shari! It’s true though right? And to be fair the grass is still growing / I haven’t got out there to cut it yet!! 😆
Welcome to the world little one and may your life be filled with much love and joy. Hope the two mamas are regaining their breath
Thank you so much, Amber! Everyone is 100% better every day!

He is a lovely strong boy. Thanks Gods!
Congratulations to you both ... lucky boy x
Thank you Christina! Have a great day yourself too!
Sounds like a harrowing few days for everyone. Wonderful that things turned out as they didn't. Louie looks like a winner.
So grateful for the successful outcome. We were very lucky.

I am looking forward to the rhubarb and strawberries. The strawberries will be fun to grow!

Congrats on baby Louie’s arrival. And may the unexpected stress of it all be replaced with peace, much happiness, and the time to love on each other.
All that! Oh yes. Thank you!
Phew! I am SO glad you three are home. Now do take the time to huddle - and cuddle - and let that grass grow. Congratulations!!
Bloody grass! At least in Illinois it stops growing for half the year. !!
