Imagine having a life living as a bird. But in the body of a person.
Johnathon Livingston Seagull is not here.
I am not even sure what kind of gulls these are. But I do know they are living their best life.
“What happens in your TKG Take Ten videos” he said to me. He was laid out in the dunes; flat on his back. A curious expression that. Flat on one’s back, though it describes the flatness of a supine figure perfectly.
“Not much.” I answered, “Half the time it is not even in focus.” I pause for a while. “We listen.” I said. My eyes almost closed against the sliced autumnal sun. I hate dialogue - the punctuation confuses me. Hush now, I thought.
“That sounds restful”, he said. I saw him from the corner of my eye before my lids closed further, like hesitant theatre curtains, rolling down. He was raising his head up. His elbow in the sand, the curl of his chin cupping into his palm.
His eyes are blue. Ash blue. Like mine.
“We all need a bit of restful,” I said. Finally shutting my eyes to him. The breath of the sea are fingertips on my eyelids. The gulls called, waves caressed the stones far off and I felt his shadow move across my face as he rose.

Very restful. So necessary in this talky world.
Oh dear, I think this one just might make me fall asleep. It is so completely restful.
