For the next five days I am scheduling a wee break from TKG Take Ten. And no Sustainable Sunday today.
Time to take a break and look at what is working and behaves not.
I spend a lot of time making the videos and more time dashing back and forth to see if the video has loaded using this weak internet signal.
And I am not happy with the quality of the video when it plays on this platform. I have to shrink the videos hard before they will even load into substack. Maybe that is my weak internet. The internet is definitely the fly in the ointment.
Anyway. These are some of the things on my list to think about.
A person needs to set themselves thinking time. And think about specific things. I need to have a good think about where this (The TKG video and newsletter channel), all this, is heading. This platform in particular. I had been hoping for fifty paid subscribers after a year to justify the amount of time I spend making the videos every day. I have topped out at 29 people in my band of Tenners. And I am so grateful. So grateful to you all.
The growth in paid membership has stopped.
Maybe ten minutes is too long. Maybe 5 days a week is too often? What do you think?
Maybe more people would watch three minute videos which is still quite long in this modern world of 15 second attention spans. But easier to make and load, maybe. But short defeats the purpose.
Is it the product, the frequency or do I need to start actively marketing.
But I do want to make sure you all are getting a good bang for your buck. There is something here. Something on the farm I really want to share.
Here is a 50 second video. Do you like this amount of time?
So I am going to think about these things.
Thank goodness the blog ‘the kitchens garden . com is true, tested by time and on solid ground. That will never change. We will grow old together the blog and I.
The farm is almost at full throttle. The summer people have begun booking their visits. The days are long and hot and the nights are cool. The gardens are growing. the animals are thriving. I am enjoying my work. I am so tired at the end of the day that I sleep like a dead person. Perfick.
So. There you have it.
What to do.
See you next weekend!

As usual l can add nothing to what Deb has to say and entirely echo her sentiments. Your blog is by far the most interesting, informative and just plain lovely read of my day. If substack goes the rather small amount of cash we pay for that l would just convert to the farmy instead.
you must do what feels right, and if what you are doing isn't working for you, that is a sign that you may want to change it up in a way that does feel right. like the others, I find you to be a brilliant writer and the world would be a better place with your memoir out there
