The Charlottes - TKG Take Ten
"It's so quiet." said the man when he got out of his car. So quiet. Then he sat on the rocking chair by the barn and really listened. 'Ah.' He said "Now I hear the farm."
And it is. Quiet. Until you listen.
Like many people this man has fond memories of growing up on his family farm in Mexico. He understands the struggle. And loved his tour.
Dinner time is not a serious affair.
Do you hear that banging? That is the hinged door that closes on their ‘all you can eat’ grain container. The piglets get their head under the lid and lift it, sliding their heads in to eat. This container keeps chickens and rain off their dinner). At this age I don’t mind how much they eat. And when I hear that thud, from wherever I am on the farm, I know one of the pigs is having a feed as they wander past.
It looks like this
:
The piglets are growing fast aren’t they?
It has been brought to my attention that some of our newer viewers might need a bigger view of the farm so you get an idea of where stuff is, in relation to other stuff. And, though you are welcome to, most of you cannot just drop in for a visit, like the chef from Mexico. So, tomorrow I will take you for a virtual walk around the farm.
And because of the walk-about, tomorrow will be a free for all too! So you can all dial in.
Have a lovely evening.

Pigs grow very fast going from piglet to market weight near 200 lbs. in 6-7 months. Imagine if we humans did that.
