We are growing rhubarb this year again, so that means I must think of dishes to have it in. Having never eaten a bite of rhubarb growing up or even in my adult life until a few years ago when we grew it, I'm not crazy about it. So, I must continue my search to use it in something yummy. I will check recipes for apple and rhubarb crumbles! :)

My most fun tip is to cook

It in orange juice - add the sugar after after cooking and while still hot. I LOVE rhubarb.

I just read that the soil from a Taranaki backyard won an international award - that place was always amazing for growing veges

“have you tasted roasted cauliflower with chickpeas and a sprinkle of cumin, a little lemon zest!” That sounds really good and healthy too. Care to share your recipe here?

Yes I will! I will make it this week. And post just as soon as I remember where I read it initially (for the credit) - I’ve been making it for years.

Love “I only look at the pictures”. That’s wonderful that he does that. Mine on the other hand…

Reads everything? Or never drops by! I know lots of writers who are never read by their families at all / which is kind of fine with me actually! 😂

Never reads anything. It would be nice if they did, just to get a little insight of what I do. Maybe one day?

I love the farmers' markets. So glad that you have found one!

We went to quite a few before we found a real one that sold FOOD! So many of them sell trinkets and over priced touristy rubbish. A good food market is a JOY.

On the other side of the world I am eating spring greens from the farmers market: spring salad mix, arugula, radishes (and sauteed radish greens), bok choy. This week there were potatoes, thank goodness, for substance. I am still trying to buy a house: when I get one I will grow food again.

Wait. And let your money keep accumulating - you will see the perfect house with the perfect garden space soon. The prices of houses in NZ are actually coming down a bit so hopefully that works for you too.

I love arugula and the first potatoes! Joy.

I've bid on two houses in cash in the last two weeks. The first house went for $110k above the asking price. On the second one I went $20k above the asking price and ended up in second place as the back-up buyer. Every month that I don't buy I have to pay rent and storage costs that are greater than my small income.

It's beautiful up here, although with fewer conveniences than where I lived in CA, but I could not afford to buy anything in CA anywhere where I wanted to live. I wanted to stay on the west coast, so here I am.

Oh - that's shitty. Lets hope you find something soon then. Sending luck and love! I am dying to see you back growing your garden again.

I've got raspberries and blackberries still sitting in CA (a friend is taking care of them). My back-up house has a sunny south-facing backyard, raised beds and room for an orchard. I'll get it if the buyer bows out. And, of course, I don't know what else will come up for sale.

It is a difficult time - riddled with what-ifs. What state are you buying in?

Now I’m half convinced I need to move to Woodend so I can live off roasted beetroot and pink cauli forever, Cecilia.. Sometimes it's nice to have the veggies boss you around.

Have a good week ahead friend :)

The market sounds wonderful. I didn’t know that you could root rhubarb that way. Mist things I try to root just goes mouldy. I have tried to root Rosemary and thyme a few times and it has never worked. Hope you have more luck and the rhubarb gives roots.

So happy for you finding the farmers' market. You're in your element! Funny how men are--pictures only! Indeed! If you can't be with the one you love, be with the one you have--TimTam. A sweet dog all on his own.

Celi - you should see my big smile reading this! And I ALWAYS READ besides looking at the photos - probably more than once :) ! Farmers' markets basically should be there only for produce sold by the growers - glad you have found one and your food suggestions sound great - when is lunch :) ? Best to Mum-to-be !!!

I look forward to the upcoming recipes, too.
