After what feels like weeks of nonstop rain, I'm quite looking forward to the snow. The world has no colour but grey and mud brown..Once the snow comes everything looks brighter. Nothing is better than the company of an animal friend when the weather keeps us inside
It turned cold here in Georgia and at my house that means the wood stove is fired up. We have a gas furnace but the heat from a wood stove is so much warmer. We have Chihuahua mix that is a senior and she loves (like I do) to get next to the stove. Something about the heat from a stove soothes my aching joints so I figure it feels good to her also.
But- where has the world gone behind that wall of white? The farm seems to be in a space all its own. Thankfully the house is still, not twirling and whirling like those incoming snowflakes :)
No snow here yet. I am quite looking forward to some real snow without the critters to worry about. Although … I can get my imagination into a real tizzy IMAGINING how my former critter pals are doing in their new digs as winter arrives! Gah! It’s like with our children. It doesn’t matter how old they get we still worry on about them. I AM looking forward to walking in the park on a snowy day. With not a responsibility in sight re shoveling, clearing laneway, clearing barn doors. I think …
Oh the joy! This is exactly the sort of weather I adore to sit by the window wrapped in a blanket with a hot cup of tea and watch until I fall into a dwam.
Once upon a time , a very long time ago, yesterday, I read you say that you watched a video of snow falling. And EVER SINCE - because you are my irreverent hero
When a low pressure system in the latitudes we live in (cyclone) drops in pressure very rapidly over 24 hrs it is called a bomb. They can reach wind speeds of hurricane level. Satellite views even look like giant hurricane swirls. https://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/bombogenesis.html
Oh!! That kind of drop gives me s headache. That is nasty wind! Huh. Do you own a barometer Jim? I have my Dads one from the house at the beach. He used to tap the glass and peer at it every time he walked by. I don’t think it is working anymore though.
Lovely! Stark too. And yes the wind is mesmerizing. I heard a faint rooster call -- maybe twice. No breathing dogs though. For me I guess they need to be snoring. I noticed a dark-robed figure on the right and at first I thought it was you, but now I don't think so.
I love how you've captured the paradox of it all (dogs snoozing by the fire while nature throws her tantrum outside)—the contrast between domestic comfort and wild weather.
The wind whistling around the house makes for a cozy feeling inside-----all warm and tucked in.
It has not really snowed here in southern Indiana but flurried steadily all day. Right around 34 just now. So the snow, such as it is, is sticking to bushes, grass, roof tops but not sidewalks or streets. It made for sort of a lazy day. Day before yesterday and yesterday we were beavering away getting all the things still out on the patio either covered or brought into the garage, hoses drained, and the gutters cleared of 3 or 4 inches of pine needles mixed with leaves. So most of the job of putting the yard to bed is done. The potting shed porch is covered with things to be shoehorned inside there somehow and there are still a few nooks and crannies that I would like to rake out and make a little bit more presentable but to all intents and purposes the fall work is completed. Now I need to get some work done inside-------tons of boring inside jobs that I have put off all summer long just waiting for me to catch my breath and dig in.

Oh Anne! Yes! I have always thought that snow is the great leveler. The whole landscape is pronounced equal under snow cover.

You are only 100 miles north of me! We feel the same weather!
And have the same bones I think!
Ha!! How did my tired eyes see Georgia and read Chicago!! Nuts!! You are many many miles from here. Glad you have that wood stove!

I love to watch snow. Especially in the corners of the porch where the wind really does twirl it around.

And you deserve it too. Snow without shoveling.
I hear you on worrying about kids - no matter how old they get. And the animals especially when I am away. We are hopeless!
Not hopeless - helpers!

I have wanted to make a snow falling video that you would watch.
Success!! @urspo!
You got snow! We had a bomb cyclone (lots of rain and wind) on Monday and are getting another one tomorrow!
What the f$&k is a bomb cyclone: I have never ever heard of one before a year ago.

Yes. I have one. I also tap it now and then. It still works after >50 yrs.

Hmm. Every time the wind is loud I think of you - I know you love the sound of wind..
That's really lovely to hear.
The weather is pretty good in SoCal.
I hope this continues.

Have a good weekend Cecilia.
I often think that life would be so much easier if dogs could do housework! Yet all they do is lie about.
