The Sound of Sleeping Dogs in Snow . TKG Take Ten
Today the wind was roaring outside. Belting through the prairies herding hard pellets of snow ahead of it. Stinging with intense force.
So, I put the camera on the outside windowsill in a sheltered corner, with the window open a little for safety. Two dogs are fast asleep in front of the fire six feet from the camera.
This is what a sleeping dog sounds like in a snow storm. Dog breath subsumed by the roar of the wind. We must use our imagination. The fire crackles a little and no-one wants to go outside. Only me. And a few earnest roosters.
Weather invigorates me. I love the challenge of it. I love the inherent danger of the sleet and snow falling from a tin lid grey sky, making everything slippery, my fingers too cold to activate the phone, the wind a menace I can shout back at. Bare my teeth at.
It is not cold enough yet for the snow to hang about for long. But the muck of winter is certainly showing its cheeky face.
Later the snow became wet and heavy then as the temperature drifted upwards it became drizzle.
I always listen to the video as I write these comments for you and I am finding the wind particularly transportive. Very white noisy!
There are only two weeks left of farm videos then TKG Take Ten will go back behind the garden wall and segue into my next exciting project. I know you will love it. You will still be able to close your eyes and listen. So if you have joined the tenners by upgrading - hold onto your hats!
The internet is so bad today it took four hours for this little video to load. Rural internet is a tough one to work with.
Have a lovely day/evening/night.

PS I love a good like and LOVE a comment.
PSS Has it been snowing at your place? I know that it is 94F (34C) and sunny in Melbourne today🙄 and 33F(0.5) here in Illinois.
After what feels like weeks of nonstop rain, I'm quite looking forward to the snow. The world has no colour but grey and mud brown..Once the snow comes everything looks brighter. Nothing is better than the company of an animal friend when the weather keeps us inside
It turned cold here in Georgia and at my house that means the wood stove is fired up. We have a gas furnace but the heat from a wood stove is so much warmer. We have Chihuahua mix that is a senior and she loves (like I do) to get next to the stove. Something about the heat from a stove soothes my aching joints so I figure it feels good to her also.
