Fascinating facts thank you. I gave up using deodorant some years ago, the contents looked so scary. I confess l do get damp in hot weather but never smell simply by washing under my arms every morning. I hate synthetic materials on my body. What loyal turkeys, not so bad after all. Pop pops are the Top pops 👌💖

What a fascinating deep dive into the world of sweat! I never thought I'd be so intrigued by something we often try to hide or minimize lol!

I love how you've tied this all back to climate change and our need to work with our bodies, not against them. Aluminum-free deodorant for the win.

I hope you are having a good week Cecilia.

Thank you for sharing.

Haven't you heard? Horses sweat, men perspire and women glow. Personally since menopause my head sweats copiously and I hate it. Nothing worse than sweat behind contact lenses.

I only glow - of course!! 😂😂

Very interesting, Cecilia. Personally I switched to a natural, aluminum-free deodorant after my breast cancer treatment. The science on the link between aluminum and breast cancer is mixed but I’d rather not chance it.

I remember my mum sending all the pots out to the shed after she read that aluminum promotes dementia. My dad built aluminum crayfish boats!

I suspect the reason we are so disturbed by sweating (at least as females) is the whole social context associated with what women are "supposed to be" and how we are judged if we don't follow the rules put in place by our Victorian forbearers. It's like women must shave their armpits while men would never consider that... I stopped using any underarm product years ago. As I've aged and my hormonal production has changed it's rare that even when I do sweat there is a smell, although I suppose if I went days without showering that would change ;)
