Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Read by Cecilia Buys-Wheeler Gunther
Enjoy your chapter! (I had fun as an actor but was a better director) which is why I am reading Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carol for you. A chapter at a time. While I am working visiting the city. These are quite unedited just like any bedtime story. I am right here sitting in a comfy chair reading you a book.

Blood on the Ice.
Very sad news. During the stormy evening before Boo and I made our nighttime rounds, to check everyone was in the barn, something killed all the ducks. Stealthy. Savage. It must have been quick. A pack working together no doubt. I heard nothing and Boo was in the kitchen with me. The iced over pond had streaks of blood across it. And feathers are flying across the grass. I am heartbroken.
Farming where there are wild carnivores, and raptors hunting from the skies, means farmers are always on edge - worrying for the stock. Trying to protect them. And these wild animals and raptors were here first. Hunting here first. So - I have no right to cry about them following their nature.
But disaster like this always comes fast. Suddenly. Out of the blue. Sudden death of beautiful little creatures is always a shock.
Walk-About the Farm.
The cold was making me sniff. And the sound today was as usual a little dubious but it is nice to be able to have wander and say goodbye. Even on a cold winet day.
I am flying away today. And if all has gone well I will be flying from Chicago to LAX to catch another plane out across the sea to New Zealand where I will buy a steak and cheese pie for my breakfast then another plane to Australia. I will be traveling almost 24 hours. Sigh.
Go to my weekday blog the kitchens garden for the current news. I am in Melbourne for a month working on our new project: The Compact Kitchens Garden. Developing city gardens with country hearts.
Don’t be lonely - I have a chat running - pop in and say Hi!
Have a gorgeous day.
