Alice. Ch X. The Lobster Quadrille - a bedtime story

From the Adventures of Alice in Wonderland in which the Mock Turtle and the Gryphon teach Alice a whimsical dance while sharing nonsensical stories and songs.

The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland written by Lewis Carroll

But first:

Happy New Year!! 2025 is going to have excitement. Farms. Travel. Food. Advocacy. Gardens. Babies. Dogs. My first mini Ebook called Loafing Around; Bread Baking for the Lazy Baker is in its final stages. I am the Lazy Baker. I am collating my bread recipes all into one little book (with audio - of course) - it will be (self)published by end of 2025. This is Book One so it will get easier after that.

OK. I have a lot of work to do! So far there are four mini books (maybe five if we include Granny Nanny) and I am making like Peter Jackson and writing them all at the same time.

My new years resolution is that I will try to curb my desire to steal all the pens. And record more free audiobooks until I am discovered and someone pays me to read their book aloud. Then I can get paid to read books all day! The joy!

What’s on your list?

That might be an unfair question because I don’t actually believe that New Year’s resolutions are that helpful. We are all under enough pressure. Plus. If you are anything like me you will have forgotten what they were in a week (maybe I should paint ‘stop stealing all the pens’ on a banner and pin it on my wall - but which wall - I am moving all the time!). However New Years resolutions are useful if we condense our wishes into malleable bite sized pieces and give ourselves a TICK for every step we complete towards the goal.

  • Step One. Sleep

  • Step Two. Coffee upon waking.

  • Step Three. Return the pens

  • etc

Alice.

This foray into Alice’s world is all about giving us - as adults - a few minutes a couple of times a week to heal our inner child. To rest. To reset. (which is why they are recorded a chapter at a time for a short break). Children often want the same bedtime story over and over again because it provides comfort and predictability. Familiar stories create a safe and soothing environment, reducing anxiety. How about us grown ups. Don’t we need that too?

Only two chapters to go! We will be back on the farm in a week! What will be next, I wonder.
