The Canterville Ghost by Oscar Wilde - a novelette.
I love reading these stories to you. And, just so you know, I love reading them out loud to myself, too.
The world feels a little fractious and tangled these days - it’s May 2025 as I write - and the world is downright worrisome. Being able to close my eyes and listen to an old story, one that asks nothing from me except to listen, feels like such a gift. It’s an easy way to rest, to contemplate, and to gently reweave the edges of a weary mind and prepare for the next task.
A short bedtime story during our siesta, or as we stretch, or even while we make the bed or cook the evening meal, brings a quiet kind of balance to the day.
Just thirty minutes of stillness, of story, is often all it takes.
The current readings are available to our paid subscribers three times a week. Once a collection is complete and has had time to settle, it will be added here to the free list every few months.
In the comments make some suggestions for stories you would like me to read to you.
I am looking for short books, or short stories, in the public domain. Books that you would love me to read to you!
And thank you!

Oh, this list is so truly fabulous! I’m excited for the coming soon Winnie the Pooh. One I’d love to hear would be “The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
