Are any of the places you've written about/read to us still there? Your home- the houses you visit- or has everything changed? I suspect things may be quite different now. I do feel much more prepared should I ever visit NZ :)

So many ways this podcast made me both nostalgic for the old days and sentimental about these wonderful traditions & vernacular which are not so different here in Australia. Thanks for the memories... your description of the sausage sanga process is priceless... I have dripped or dropped so many, and for the laughs while I hung the washing on the Hills Hoist in the backyard on this sunny late Autumn morning... after a frosty -2 C start I was a bit late getting it out.
