Take some time for yourself and listen to a BedTime story. Today is Wind in the Willows Chapter Six. Listening to childhood favorites with adult ears is the best way to keep our inner child alive and kicking!
This really is a delightful and somewhat terrifying chapter. The intervention of Badger and Ratty and Mole; trying to put Toad into some kind of solitary detox, to get him off the drug of cars with their roaring engines and screeching tires echoing endlessly in his ears does not end well.
“Right you are!” cried the Rat, starting up. “We’ll rescue the poor unhappy animal! We’ll convert him! He’ll be the most converted Toad that ever was before we’ve done with him!”
They set off up the road on their mission of mercy, Badger leading the way. Animals when in company walk in a proper and sensible manner, in single file, instead of sprawling all across the road and being of no use or support to each other in case of sudden trouble or danger.
This line when the three friends walked over to Toad Hall. In single file. I love this because they really do! Animals. Left to walk naturally. Walk in single file.
And the dungeon! Poor Toad! Chapter Seven comes out on Thursday. We won’t leave Toad in a dungeon for long (I don’t think) though he was pretty naughty!
Have a lovely evening.

I love comments - you can talk about anything - go entirely off thread - I don’t care!
